Bangalore, April 14 (IANS) Leading US management training firm ESI International has set up India operations in this tech hub to impart skills in project management, contract management and business analysis to Indian corporates, the company said here Monday. A subsidiary of Informa plc, ESI will offer training programmes localised to the Indian industry environment. Besides specific courses, the corporate training will include eight certificate courses in programme management, business analysis and IT project management, offered through its educational partner - the George Washington University in district of Columbia.

“As India’s bourgeoning economy leverages on strong growth in IT, there is huge demand from Indian corporates and multinationals operating in the country for enhancing project management and business analysis expertise of their workforce. Our programmes are tailored to develop talent and drive efficiencies for the local market, especially in sectors deregulated and opened to global players,” ESI vice-president Raed S. Haddad said in a statement here.

An uptrend in the Indian corporate training market has also witnessed spending on products and services growing to $16.4 billion in 2007 from $15.8 billion in 2006.

With the Indian economy on upswing, ESI predicts that the country would be able to sustain 8-8.5 percent GDP (gross domestic product) growth over the next three-five years with the current pace of foreign direct investment.

“The need for project management and business analysis training is imperative because technical managers need business acumen to handle projects. With 25-year legacy, we have a foothold in the global delivery model for services to clients,” ESI India country manager Pankaj Kejriwal affirmed.

The Arlington-based ESI has trained nearly one million professionals worldwide with its 100 management courses in 18 languages and operations in 75 countries worldwide.
