UAE opens plant health laboratory
February 16th, 2011 - 11:59 pm ICT by IANSSharjah, Feb 16 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates Wednesday opened a plant health laboratory (PHL) aimed to provide a consistent and efficient diagnostic service for diseases which may come into the country via trade or other means.The laboratory, inaugurated by Minister for Environment and Water Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, conducts a range of plant health tests on samples submitted from various sources.
The minister said that the laboratory, equipped with sophisticated systems and qualified professionals, would serve the country’s strategic goals in raising standards and rates of bio-security and achieve. It would enhance food and environment security, conserve, protect, and develop plant resources.
The minister said the facility will provide all technical consultancy services to farmers to ensure high productivity.
