solar-eclipseThe final countdown is here for the most awaited “Total Solar Eclipse 2009” which is supposed to be the longest solar eclipse that our generation will witness till the year 2032. The Western Hemisphere will witness the eclipse on 21st July while the Eastern Hemisphere will observe the phenomenon on 22nd July.

The exact path of the solar eclipse in the Eastern Hemisphere can be found in the “Total Solar Eclipse, July 22, 2009: Best Places On Earth To View”, extracted from NASA’s report which had been documented by Fred Espernak and Jay Anderson in the year 2008. In order to know the exact time one has to check the Universal time to confirm the exact timings of the Solar Eclipse for the year 2009.

The longest solar eclipse of the 21st century has sparked tourist fever in eastern China, which according to the experts is the best place to view the event.

The eclipse is the second in the series of the three successive eclipses. There was a lunar eclipse on July 7, now a solar eclipse on July 22 which will be followed by a lunar eclipse on August 7. If you are one of the thousands of explorers who are placed in India, China, Japan and Marshall Islands, NASA has strongly recommended not to witness the eclipse in bare eyes, as the harmful ray might end up damaging one’s eye permanently.

There also has been speculations that the eclipse may cause Tsunami or earth quake, as per as a blog released by a software developer. His theory is based on the existing theory by James Berkland. However, the author states that this is only a hypothesis and acknowledges that he is not qualified for a formal prediction.
