Telecom regulator seeks views on value added services
March 30th, 2011 - 7:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 30 (IANS) The telecom regulator Wednesday said it will float a consultation paper on mobile value-added services in April and will give its recommendations by the end of June.
“TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) will come out with a consultation paper on the mobile value-added services in April,” TRAI chairman J.S. Sarma said at a meeting on the National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2011 here.
“By the end of June, it will give recommendations on value-added services,” he added.
Sarma also said that TRAI will announce recommendations on telecom infrastructure policies to encourage telecom equipment manufacturing in the country.
“We have plans to come up with recommendations on telecom infrastructure and manufacturing next week,” he said.
The regulator had earlier floated a consultation paper on telecom infrastructure policy in January 2011, on which it had received comments from various stakeholders.
