Tyrannosaurus Rex Washington DC, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Research by scientists have yielded results which suggests that the most fearsome and dangerous Dinosaur known as Tyrannosaurus rex (T rex), believed to have existed 66 million years ago in North America had cannibalistic tendencies and hence fed on its own species.

The bones of the dinosaur were seen with teeth marks believed to have been made by other species of T rexes and this seems to reveal that there was an eternal fight between T rexes in which the winner killed and ate the loser.

Another study of Dinosaur fossils by Nick Longrich of Yale University also saw dinosaur bones with teeth marks from other mammals. One particular bone had very deep marks in them. The age and location of the fossil seems to reveal that a T rex made the bone marks.

“It’s surprising how frequent it appears to have been. We’re not exactly sure what that means. The marks are definitely the result of feeding. If two T rex fought to the death, the victor might have made a meal out of his adversary,” according to Longrich.

Longrich stated that even though any large carnivore could have made the size of the marks, the only big carnivore at that time i.e. 65 million years ago and location was T rex. After further research, Longrich also discovered that the original bone was also from a T rex fossil.
