solaAugust 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The web is abuzz with the reports of a solar storm that is earth bound. The solar tsunami is a result of the mass ejection that occurred on the surface of the sun on Sunday. The ejection has sent into space a huge amount of plasma flares that is reportedly heading towards our planet. A NASA spokesperson has announced that the storm is likely to hit the surface of the earth’s atmosphere around August 3. The effects of the storm hitting the earth have been speculated worldwide since the occurrence of it in the sun.

The NASA scientist has said to the media that the storm could result in damage to the earth’s satellites. There was also the probability of a magnificent light show in the sky on late Tuesday. No reports, however have so far suggested any of the effects taking place. A physicist at the Space Weather Prediction Center said that there may be temporary communication blackouts in the polar regions. He added that the people who are monitoring changes in space and in weather are likely to feel the effects of the solar storm hitting the earth’s atmosphere.

Sky watchers all over the world have been quite stirred all over the world as they are expecting to see curtains of red and green lights as an effect of the charged particles colliding with the layer of earth’s atmosphere. Some are even predicting an electronic Armageddon. Scientist have, however, assured that the atmosphere is likely to filter out almost all the radiation that is likely to hit the surface.
