October 1st, 2010 - 10:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) After a major overhaul, the Nehru Planetarium in the capital was reopened Friday for visitors.
The planetarium, providing astronomy education to children, now welcomes visitors with modern projection systems and better facilities.
The new projection systems, including high-end telescopes, would allow viewers to get a graphical view of the space systems.
“This museum has a history of providing knowledge to children and the advancements show that it has a long way to go,” said Karan Singh, senior politician and chairperson of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML).
The renovation was initiated jointly by the NMML and the Ministry of Culture.
“We are expecting more visitors during the Games. So we had started the renovation work much earlier,” Mridula Mukherjee, museum director told IANS.
The excitement could be seen among school kids who had gathered to visit the planetarium.
The museum would host many activities during the Games, including live interactive shows and quiz competition on astronomy education for children.
