cdmsDec.18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Researchers of the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment declared the results of their findings at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory located in Batavia on Thursday where it was revealed that evidences of particles believed to be dark matter might be present in Minnesota. At the same time, it has also been revealed that results of the experiment do not surely validate the presence of dark matter however, the events cannot be rejected as well.

Researchers have for years looked for dark matter, which is considered to be a adhering material that contributes in keeping cosmic structures together and forms a considerably large part of the universe. However, this proved to be an extremely difficult job as the interaction of the material with other particles is very less and at the same time it fails to reflect or absorb light. The recent result point out that the scientists have found two events which indicate the presence of dark matter particles. However, it might also be possible that the results have been detected from background particles with interactions similar to the dark matter particles.

Pier Oddone, director of Fermi Laboratory has added that research is being undertaken at a laboratory in a former mine in Minnesota to validate the presence of the elusive dark matter. Moreover, next year an advanced detector is scheduled to be set which would much more powerful than the current detectors.

Meanwhile, the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) aims to find evidences relating to dark matter particles and is undertaken with the collaboration of a number of universities and other scientific institutions in the United States.
