Renowned environmental scientist dies in Srinagar
September 13th, 2011 - 5:33 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Sep 13 (IANS) Renowned environmental scientist Subhan Khan Pathan died of a massive heart attack while reading out a research paper here Tuesday, police said.
Pathan was reading out research paper in the Gandhi Bhawan auditorium of the University of Kashmir in Hazratbal area when he suddenly collapsed.
“He was immediately shifted to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences where doctors could not revive him. His body will be flown to his hometown in Gujarat after completion of the legal formalities,” a senior police officer said.
Pathan was the director of the National Resources Database project of the union ministry of science and technology.
The Indian Society of Geomatics conferred the National Geomatics Award for innovative applications on Pathan in 2009 for his contribution in promoting urban planning and infrastructure.
