Red Cross launches family-finder website for Haiti quake victims
January 14th, 2010 - 5:06 pm ICT by IANSGeneva, Jan 14 (DPA) The International Committee of the Red Cross launched Thursday a programme and website to help families in Haiti locate missing relatives.
“The aim of the family links website is to accelerate the process of restoring contact between separated family members,” the ICRC said.
Thousands of Haitian families are believed to have lost contact with loved ones as a result of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck the impoverished nation Tuesday.
The site can be accessed at: www.familylinks.icrc.org.
Also, the international agency sent a plane from Geneva carrying 11 staff, including two tracing experts.
