October 8th, 2010 - 8:13 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattA new species of tube-nosed bat was discovered which resembles with Star Wars Jedi Master Yoda. The bat was found in remote rainforest area of a region of Papua New Guinea.
Apart from the bat that was discovered in this region, an orange spider and a yellow-spotted frog were also among the new host of species that were discovered in that region. After the continuous survey of two months held last year in the rough and little-unexplored area of Nakanai and Muller mountain ranges more than 200 plants and animals were unfolded for the first time.
The observation found two mammals, 24 rare species of frog, 9 plants, more than 100 new types of insects and 100 varieties of spiders. Among 100 new insect’s ants, crickets, damselflies were few names given to few of the found species of insects.
It was observed that the new species found recently are very different from earlier known species. On the recent interview a scientist said that the latest discovery represents an entirely new group of species. Some of the new species are yet to be showcased to the world by the team of scientists.
