Cape Canaveral, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After being postponed so many times, NASA was finally able to successfully launch its Ares I-X rocket. It had been postponed today itself some hours earlier due to the weather concerns. The original scheduled launch of the Ares I-X flight test was on Tuesday, but it was also canceled. The next launch was decided to be made on Wednesday, as there was a four-hour launch window that opened at 8 a.m. EDT.
After the successful launch of the rocket, the scientists at NASA were very relived and were seen congratulating each other in the mission control room.
NASA tried for hours to launch the rocket On Tuesday and Wednesday morning, but unfavorable weather conditions, which included clouds and winds kept it, stuck to its pad.
This critical flight test is part of NASA’s mission to someday return astronauts to the moon and the later travel to Mars also.
If the Constellation Program is able to move forward successfully, then Orion capsule atop the Ares rocket will not be ready to take astronauts into space until at least 2015. This would entail a gap of at least five years in which the only way the United States would be able to put humans in orbit would be by negotiating a ride with the Russians astronauts.
The launch comes at a critical time, when NASA is waiting for President Obama to decide appropriate future funding for the agency.
