Washington D.C., Feb 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) NASA officials, who are always dedicated to improve their observations of the outer space, have unveiled a new robot named “Robonaut 2″ that would work side by side with the astronauts in space. As per the reports, experts at NASA have worked with the skilled engineers of General Motors Company for the development of these robots.
This is not the first time that NASA has introduced a robot. Reports state that almost a decade ago, NASA scientists had worked with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for introducing their first robot- “The Robonaut”. There are reports indicating that “The Robonaut” acted as the base of the new robots that would work in the outer space. It has been reported that the new robots that has been developed by the NASA and General Motors is mainly aimed to help astronauts and will also be beneficial for factory workers.
Doug Cooke, associate administrator of Exploration Systems Mission Directorate of NASA said that they expect the new robot to be promising for NASA as well as the entire nation. He expressed his excitement about the new robot and stated that it will provide several new opportunities for explorations.
Though reports indicate that the new robots would be helpful for the factory workers, the officials of General Motors Company have not yet used them in their plants. It has been reported that the company is not launching the new robot immediately in their plants. However, they are considering some plans by which they would be able to use this innovative technology in their factories as soon as possible.
