LCROSS Moffett Field, Oct 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a historic mission to solve the mystery of the presence of lunar water, NASA has launched a special moon-specific mission called Lunar CRater Observing and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) that will send a missile that will literally crash (”bomb”) into the southern surface of the moon. The impact of the bombing is expected to produce such a cloud of debris that scientists back on Earth can ascertain whether or not water actually exists in some form on the moon.

According to a NASA release, The selected crater is an optimal target for evaluating if water ice exists at the lunar south pole. Briefing participants are Daniel Andrews, LCROSS project manager, Anthony Colaprete, LCROSS principal investigator, and Jennifer Heldmann, lead for the LCROSS observation campaign.

Andrews will provide an update about the health of the spacecraft and Mission activities. Colaprete will announce the target crater and explain the criteria and selection process. Heldmann will discuss the LCROSS observation campaign in which an international cadre of professional and amateur astronomers will view the impacts at 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 9.

I just wonder what is really going on here. Why did it take a third world country who can’t feed their own people to send a ship to the moon and “bingo” find water. This is probably the most “unexplained scam” in the history of earth seeing we just spend forty years looking all over the universe for water and wouldn’t you know it…it’s right here next door. Hell, we can see it from our back door. NASA had to of known this for many many years and not a word. If it wasn’t for India none of this would have come out until Russia or the US wanted it too. Why were they hiding this from the public? What’s going on here? How many years and trips to Mars were made hunting for water and “here it is!” Right here 250,000 miles away. I would like the real answers and I would like to see “untouched” photos of the moon surface. Not these selective photos we’ve been getting.
Water…right there on that beautiful moon..who would of thought. Mighty fishy..don’t you agree?

God, stop trying to figure things out and just take joy in the fact the NASA has blown up a bit of the moon. =D Live a little.

Please Terry - get educated… If the Americans find usable water on the moon then they can go ahead and and use moon water instead of earth water to build their spacestation with much ease and obviously lower costs.

Please RiverKarma I really think your the one that needs to be educated. I looked at what I wrote and nowhere did I say anything about why water would be important on the moon or anywhere else. If you read what I wrote slowly…..get it…slowly. I don’t give a rats ass if they find water on the moon or in Nevada. My concerns are…NASA, and whomever else is out there have been looking for water well before the moon landings. We continued looking for water on Jupitar, Mars, Saturn, etc. and 40 years from the moon landing experience India goes to the moon and has high expectations and some verifiable proof that there is water on the moon. YOU KNOW the United States Government knew this and continued with this little game they’re playing. We’ve just been and still are on Mars looking at some possible ice crystals or dry ice material and we have it right here on our moon. Do you hear me…right here. Outside. In the sky….On our beautiful moon. Why was this kept from us and why did it take India to shake things up before the US and Russia go back to the moon. All I’m saying is something’s up and I want to know what it is… If you look back at what’s been going on in the space program you will find the agency wasn’t even thinking of the moon during this little “look for water” exercise. Whatever……
