Microsoft launches new ‘Mojave’ ads

September 6th, 2008 - 12:38 pm ICT by Bupha Ravirot -

Microsoft push its fancy new ad campaign for Windows on Thursday, promote Mojave, the ad featuring Bill Gates trying on shoes at a store with Jerry Seinfeld, air on major TV shows.

In the ad, Seinfeld sizes up Gates’ shoe size (a 10), asks him whether he’s ever tried wearing his clothes in the shower (”never”), and ultimately asks Gates whether Microsoft is ever going to come out “with something moist and chewy like cake.” Seinfeld asks Gates to give him a sign, like adjusting his shorts, if the answer is yes. Gates gives a wiggle in the affirmative.

The spot then ends with the Windows logo and the phrase “Delicious.”

Eight months before Microsoft had launched Windows Vista with the slogan “The ‘Wow’ starts now” but people seemed to response negatively, they are unhappy with its speed, compatibility issues and gratuitous changes to well known functions.

All through 2007 and into 2008 continuous comparisons of ads between two big companies advertising have been in interest for most of the people. Recently Microsoft launched a new OS ‘Mojave’ which is likely to be one of many efforts designed to resuscitate Vista’s image as well as lend strength to the Windows platform among stepped-up competition from Apple and Google.

“Mojave experiment” , 140 people were exposed to a ten minute demo of a “new” operating system. They loved it. And then the truth was revealed: the new system was Windows Vista.
