Los Angeles, Nov 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Space rover Spirit’s fascinating journey on Mars have been documented and released in a special video. Nearly 3,500 images are involved in the project which rolls at a rate of about 24 frames per second. The entire mission of Spirit is shown in the video in less than 3 minutes.

Spirit is a Mars rover which started its journey in January 2004. After more than five years of traveling across the planet, Spirit got stuck in the soil and was lost. That brought the mission of the vehicle to a close. NASA declared the Spirit lost after all attempts to free the machine failed.

The video was released on YouTube on Friday with several viewers watching the images.

With the demise of Spirit, another rover, Opportunity was launched to take over the mission. The rover has proven to be a success so far. It has exceeded the target of its manufacturers and NASA says the machine is still operational and moving on the planet.

The exploration of Mars has been ongoing for years. NASA and other space agencies believe that understanding the planet may play a key role to determine if there is a chance that humans can survive there.
