Lunar perigee all set to appear in a week
March 9th, 2011 - 8:57 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world would experience lunar perigee in just over a week. The phenomena would make the moon appear much bigger than we have known it all these years.
The moon will get closest to earth for the first time in 19 years. It would come at 221,567 miles near the earth making it appear much bigger. Coincidentally anytime that the moon appeared that big a devastating disaster happen. The phenomenon occurred in the Boxing Day of 2004 and the devastating tsunami struck. Before that Cyclone Tracy struck the Australian city of Darwin on the same day that the phenomenon happened in 1974.
The trend has got some dooms-day seers to speculate that something bad would happen when the event takes place on the 19th of March. Scientists say there is no evidence to suggest that the phenomenon is linked to dooms.
Pete Wheeler of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy told reporters that, “There will be no earthquakes or volcanoes erupting, unless they are to happen anyway. The Earth will experience just a lower than usual low tide and a higher than usual high tide around the time of the event, but nothing to get excited about.”
