Los Angeles, June 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) So you live in central part of America and you are a late riser? Pull yourself up a little early on Saturday and you might be a witness to the lunar eclipse which is all set to hit the American skies on Saturday.
Leaving out the East Coast, the partial lunar eclipse shall be visible from 3:17 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. In just 80 minutes, it shall reach it’s peak as the moon enters the earth’s shadow. In the central part of America this moon shall appear as magnified due to the “moon illusion” which takes palace due to the proximity of the moon to the horizon.
Apart from the central part of America, other prominent regions where the lunar eclipse shall be visible are Australia, Antarctica and greater parts of the Pacific. The lunar eclipse of Saturday is actually a preview of the lunar eclipse which is all set to engulf the American skies in the upcoming month of December. The partial lunar eclipse shall have the earth cast it’s umbral shadow which shall give it an illusion as if a major chunk of the moon is missing. The Asian sky gazers particularly the Indian sky watchers will miss out this phenomenon owing to the time difference between America and India.
The partial lunar eclipse shall be of a longer duration than any other lunar eclipse. As the moon enters the shadow of the earth, it shall be partially lighted and partially darkened. The entire phenomenon shall last for a total of three hours and shall cover up to 54 percent of the moon’s diameter.
