lord-moncktonOct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lord Christopher Monckton’s speech at the Bethel University at St. Paul last week, about the US Climate Change Treaty created quite a ripple in US and elsewhere. The event was hosted by Minnesota Free Market Institute. The US Climate Change Treaty is scheduled to be signed by President Obama in Copenhagen on December this year. The main aim of the treaty is to stabilize the total level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and thereby control global warming.

Lord Monckton, the 3rd Viscount of Monckton of Brenchley is a British politician and the former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, who has been amidst controversy for expressing his criticism about global warming and has emphasized that global warming is nothing but the tactics of the government to showcase their power and create unnecessary pressure on the common people. He also rejected the idea that carbon emissions made by humans leads to increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and added that if the global climate change treaty is signed then global change would be just an excuse for the establishment of a one-world government. Moreover,he refused to address global warming as a pertinent issue and disagreed that any climatic treaty could play any role in tackling the problem.

In November 2006, Lord Monckton had also published an article in the Daily Telegraph, where he ventilated his skepticism about the present global warming scenario. However, it remains to be seen whether the concerns expressed by Lord Monckton is actually taken into consideration by the US government before President Obama signs the climate change treaty at the UN conference later this year.
