Leonid Meteor Shower To Be Witnessed On November 17

Nov.16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) November is expected to turn to be a great month for the sky-gazers, especially for the people who love to see meteor shooting in the night sky. Latest reports related to the Leonid meteor showers state that this year, people living in the United States will get to see this meteor shower on 17th November. It has been stated that the meteor shower will be on its peak during 16th and 17th November and as it is the New Moon period of the month, people will get a better view of the shower.
Meteor shower is always a great attraction people but every year the conditions do not remain perfect for meteor viewing. Richard Talcott, Senior Editor of Astronomy said that this month’s meteor viewing conditions are expected to be ideal if weather does not deteriorate at night. He also said, “Observers normally can see to 20 to 30 meteors per hour at the peak, but rates could spike considerably this year.” It has been predicted by sources that peak time for watching meteor shower will be from 1:30 a.m. at midnight and before the sunrise. Someone who wants to witness this meteor shower will have to remain outside during the suggested time.
Sources stated that number of meteor shooting can vary from place to place and they have not yet predicted the exact timings. It has been stated in the NASA reports that people in Asia will be able to see approximately 200-300 meteor shootings in one hour while the people in the United States would get to see 20-30 meteors in one hour.
