Leonid Meteor Shower 2010Nov 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Star-gazers were surely in for a huge treat as the annual Leonid Meteor Shower dazzled the night sky again this year providing sky-watchers with the perfect opportunity to enjoy the stunning spectacle to the fullest. Weather forecaster had earlier predicted that the meteor shower would peak this week, a news that was welcomed by star-gazers as it gave them the appropriate chance to catch a glimpse of the stunning visual gracing the skyline.

Enthusiastic sky-gazers must have surely seized the opportunity to watch the annual spectacle of the Leonid Meteor Shower which was predicted to have gained maximum visibility during the wee hours of Thursday morning. Although weather officials have revealed that the meteor shower would be visible adorning the night sky almost throughout this week, last night Thursday night after the moon goes down and till 5 in the morning, Leonid Meteor Shower would make its presence felt in the night sky. The excitement of the sky-gazers regarding Thursday night’s annual November meteor shower was all the more as this was the last chance to catch a glimpse of the meteor spectacle before the full moon appears next week which would hinder visibility to a large extent.

However, if the Leonid Meteor Shower has not been successful in fulfilling the expectations of the ardent sky-gazers then brace yourself for the Geminids Meteor Shower which is just a few weeks away. The Geminids Meteor Shower which peaks on December 13 is considered to be among one of the most spectacular showers of the year. Meteor showers are produced when the Earth passes through a debris that is created by a comet.
