Japan To Initiate Venus Investigation And Space Yacht

May 18, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The Japanese nation on Monday was geared up to commence its initial Venus investigation on Tuesday. The investigation will be executed by a rocket that will position an investigational ‘space yacht’ pushed by solar particles glancing off its kite-shaped sail.

The H-IIA rocket was situated at the Tanegashima space centre in southern Japan in appropriate weather for its takeoff at 6:44am (local time on Tuesday). This data was divulged by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

It will blast off with the ‘space yacht’, Ikaros. Ikaros is an ellipsis for Interplanetary Kite-craft Accelerated by Radiation of the Sun. Ikaros travels on account of the heaviness of sunlight particles striking its square sail.

The price of the creation of Ikaros has been a mammoth $ 18.6 million. It will be the opening utilization of technology in deep space, as previous experimentations have been restricted to spreading out its sail in orbits around the Earth.

The untried spacecraft’s sail, leaner than a human hair, is also operational with thin-film solar cells to produce electricity. JAXA has articulated that this will manufacture a crossbreed technology of electricity and pressure.

Its manufacturers have revealed that this revolutionary technology could make possible space travel devoid of fuel as long as there are sunbeams.

The H-IIA will also transport four other diminutive satellites, constructed by Japanese universities and other institutes.
