gobi Beijing, Nov 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are several rumors on the Internet regarding recent images on Google Maps taken at a location on the Gobi desert in China. The images were taken close to the headquarters of the Chinese space agency.

The pictures reveal layouts and what appears to be blown up vehicles. The images have got some people spreading several conspiracy theories with some suggesting that China is simulating an attack on the United States. That belief stems from the fact that one of the grids bore a very similar street map to that of US’s Washington DC.

The Sun quoted a defense expert as saying that the images looked like America’s notorious Area 51. Tim Ripley told the newspaper that, “The picture of the circle looks very like a missile test range, with target and instrumentation set out to record weapon effects. The Americans have lots of these in Nevada – Area 51!”

Area 51 which is located in Nevada was for years kept under the radar. It is often linked with being a base for alien UFO ships but officials say the location is used to test new weapons and military aircrafts.

Google Map images have sparked a debate which is likely to go on for years.
