meteorApr 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A giant fireball was seen in the skies of Wisconsin and St. Louis on Wednesday night. It seems that the fireball, which is being considered as a “meteor”, was so large that it could also be viewed on the weather map of Iowa. A Sherrif who was on duty in Iowa also caught the falling meteor on camera. But as of now, authorities are unsure of the reason behind the sudden meteor shower which took place on Wednesday night. The ball of fire covered a large area starting from Wisconsin to the St. Louis skies. This “meteor shower” occurred between 10 to 10.15 pm, with people in and around the areas of Wisconsin, St. Louis and Iowa being able to witness the amazing spectacle.

There is still no plausible explanation about the fireball that was seen with experts saying that it may be the result of the Gamma Virginids shower which occur between April 4th to April 21st every year. However, as of now the speculations have not been validated as yet. Whether or not this was a meteor or mere space debris has to be deciphered still. Astronomers have confirmed that the shower was prominent as it could be viewed by the naked eye and onlookers have reportedly stated that the meteor moved in a particular direction in the sky.

Meanwhile, experts have revealed that these kind of events are not a rarity this time of the year. Scientists are saying that anybody who loves to watch such rare events of the space should keep their eyes open as the astronomical extravaganza is likely to continue for a few days now.
