April 22nd, 2008 - 11:38 pm ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Chiang Mai will host it’s first ever BarCamp on May, 17th, 2008. BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences - open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants - often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies.
The first Thailand BarCamp was held in Bangkok on Jan. 26. About 150 participants and considerable sponsors like Microsoft, Google and Reuters made this BarCamp a huge success. Since 2005 BarCamps have been held in over 31 cities around the world, in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Australasia and Asia.
While loosely structured, attendees are encouraged to present or facilitate a session, share information and experiences of the event, both live and after the fact, via public web channels including blogging, photo sharing, social bookmarking, wiki-ing, and IRC.
BarCamp Chiang Mai will be held on May 17th 2008, from 10:00-18:00, at Payap University, International House, Super-highway Chiang Mai - Lumpang Road.
