Experts Claim “Optical Illusion” in Mystery After Missile Fired Off California
November 11th, 2010 - 3:32 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonNov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to the Daily Mail, despite the fact that the missile which was fired off of the southern California Coast was caught on film, the Pentagon has still not been able to confirm, or deny what it is. The footage was taken by a news helicopter, and the trail of the missile was seen from Los Angeles.
The so-called launch occurred at around 5 pm Los Angeles time, and was said to have been west of the city, and north of Catalina Island, thirty-five miles off shore. After reviewing the footage as well as witness reports, the spokesman from the Pentagon, Colonel Dave Lapan states that they still have no idea what it was. “Nobody within the Department of Defence that we’ve reached out to has been able to explain what this trail is, where it came from,” he said.
But John Pike, who is a defense and aerospace expert who runs the website named ‘GlobalSecurity.org’ claims that the “missile launch” was simply an optical illusion from an airplane. “This thing is so obviously an airplane contrail… There’s a reason that they’re called rockets,” he stated.
Pike added that the object was going to slowly to be a missile, and that the light in the video seemed more like light being reflected from the sun than engine light. He said that the contrail did not start at the ground as it seemed and go straight up, but instead ran parallel to the ground. He claims that the helicopter as well as witness accounts which put the object being launched from Earth were a trick of the eye. “It was an unusually clear day, so what looked like a missile launch 35 miles off the coast of Los Angeles was actually the contrail of a jet that stretched 300 miles into the distance,” he claimed.
