Washington DC, Sep 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) NASA and Internet Archive have announced that they have agreed to place more than 12 million NASA pictures on the internet.

The space agency also announced that, it they would also load up more than 100,000 hours of video footage and film on the site. Internet Archive say they plan to put the pictures and the video on a new website called Nasaimages.org but there is no word on when the program will be launched.

NASA is going to be 50 years old next year and it is believed that the program will be rolled on the internet before then. The archive will contain pictures, audio and videos including animations and sketches of most of the works of NASA throughout its 50-year history.

Access to the files will be free for internet lovers and it is expected that the videos and photos will give people a fair idea about what NASA is all about.

Internet Archive did well to get NASA to partner them on this project considering that NASA has been working with Google, Internet Archive’s rivals, for more than a year now. Google developed its Google Map with the assistance from NASA.

But NASA says that the project is fit for Internet Archive, considering that Internet Archive maintains that they intend to make all human knowledge digital and available to people.
