BIG music to create title track for online game

Mumbai, May 2 (IANS) BIG Music & Home Entertainment will be producing the title track for Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd’s online racing game “Crazy Cart” in India, the firm said Friday. The traditional sources of revenue from music are now shifting to new avenues, Kulmeet Makkar, CEO of BIG Music & Home Entertainment, said while announcing the tie-up here.

“BIG Music is moving beyond (being) just a music distributor. Earlier, distributing and selling recorded music used to be the mainstay of music companies. Today, it’s just a part of the revenue streams. New business models are now emerging with new music usages on digital and mobile platforms. BIG Music is moving with the time,” Makkar told IANS.

Makkar said the music piece for “Crazy Cart” would have a mix of techno, pop-rock and exciting sound effects in keeping with the spirit of the game.

Rohit Sharma, CEO of Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd, said “Crazy Cart” was already very popular in China, where the government has recognised it as the “No.1 casual game for teenagers”.

“This is the first of its kind online racing game targeted towards the Indian youth. Since music is an integral part of it, we commissioned BIG Music to create the title track for its familiarity with youth and gaming,” Sharma said.
