Bhopal, April 20 (IANS) The bloggers from Bhopal, who recently set up a blogging forum to learn from one another’s experiences, Sunday started a six-day online event - blogathon. The event, aimed at building an interesting and close-knit community of bloggers, is being organised online by www.blogathon.in.

The Bhopal bloggers are coming together on the web to express their opinions, concerns, ideas and suggestions on different social issues.

“We wanted to participate in such events that help us consolidate as a group, increase our knowledge and enhance visibility of issues affecting the people of the state, which otherwise would have gone unnoticed,” said Anil Gulati, a Bhopal blogger who also photoblogs with IANS.

“It will not only start a chain of discussion but also help us make a mark for Bhopal,” another blogger Shaishnu said. Bloggers from Bhopal would contribute articles on infrastructure, politics, entertainment, media, gender and sports to the blogathon, Shela, another blogger from the city said.

“They (the bloggers) plan to bring local issues like health, high infant and maternal mortality, emerging traffic problems of Indore and Bhopal and growing violence against women and dalits to the public notice. The participation of Hindi blogs adds excitement to the show,” Raju, a Hindi blogger from the city, told IANS.

Bhopal has seen growing number of blogs in the last two years. Photo blogs and Hindi blogs on Madhya Pradesh are also catching up.

Blogs - a user-generated website as is commonly known - are available on different subjects.
