Bangkok will host Thailand’s first ever BarCamp
January 4th, 2008 - 3:36 pm ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Bangkok, Thailand, January 4th — Bangkok will host Thailand’s first ever BarCamp on January 26th, 2008. BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. The event will be bilingual, in both English and Thai.
The first BarCamp was held in 2005 in Palo Alto, but BarCamp’s innovative format quickly spread all over the world. Singapore, Paris, Montreal, Boston, Tokyo, Shanghai and Mumbai have all hosted BarCamps.
BarCamp is a radical departure from traditional technology conferences in that all attendees are expected to participate in some way: by giving a talk, asking questions, organizing a session, serving snacks, handing out name tags, or securing sponsors. All participants are encouraged to share information and experiences about BarCamp through blogging, photo sharing, social-bookmarking, wiki-ing and IRC.
BarCamp Bangkok will be held January 26th 2008, from 10:00-18:00, at Indus restaurant, 71, Sukhumvit Soi 26, Klong Toei.
