plane Paris, Aug 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Astronomers say they have discovered what they believe is the highest tally of alien planet’s ever discovered.

Astronomers have already discovered a cluster of at least five planets with the possibility of discovering at least two more orbiting around the star.

The star is HD 10180 and its planets become just the 15th planetary system that has more than three planets. The planets circulate around the star in much the same way as the earth’s solar system.

The planetary system is 127 light years away from planet Earth and it is estimated that one of the planets might have mass that is closest to earth. No other planet has a similar mass as that of earth. However the planet is one of the two planets that are yet to be discovered around the HD 10180.

The findings were made public on Tuesday at Observatoire de Haute-Provence in France.

“We have found what is most likely the system with the most planets yet discovered. This remarkable discovery also highlights the fact that we are now entering a new era in exoplanet research: the study of complex planetary systems and not just of individual planets,” according to astronomer Christophe Lovis, lead author of the study.

Scientists say the planets are closer to the star than the distance between the solar bodies and the sun. But the planets appear bigger than those at the planet’s solar system.
