New York, Sep 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An asteroid just passed between the Earth and the moon and astronomers say there is another asteroid that is also making the approach to pass. Scientists say the asteroid 2010 RX30 did not pose any danger to planet Earth when it passed on Wednesday, likewise the next asteroid that is set to pass later on Wednesday.

The event, which was not visible to the naked eye took place at 5:51 am ET. The asteroid is estimated to be between 32 to 65 feet wide. 2010 RX30 passed within 154,000 miles of Earth.

The second asteroid called “2010 RF12″ is expected to also pass the planet at 5:12 pm ET and it is estimated to be between 20 to 46 feet wide. And if you think the first asteroid passed the planet closer, the second asteroid is expected to pass within 49,000 miles from the planet.

NASA said the event can be witnessed with a moderate sized amateur telescope.

NASA says there are about 50 million asteroids from undisclosed locations and several of the asteroids pass the planet each year. NASA estimates that on the average, an asteroid hits the planet’s atmosphere each decade.
