Aug 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new solar system has been discovered by the European Southern Observatory scientist that looks quite similar to the one which we live in. The discovery has been called a new step towards discovering alien life as the new solar system has a total of 7 planets with one of them having a rocky surface like that of earth. The parent star of the newly discovered solar system lies around 127 light years away from us in the constellation called Hydra. It has been named HD 10180 and one of the astronomers working on the project said that they may have found the system with the most planets yet discovered.
Among the seven planets that have been discovered circling the HD 10180, five circle the star in a similar manner to the planets in the solar system but in a more compact arrangement. Considering that the planets are too close to the parent star, there is little probability for life forms in the system. Of the other two potential additional planets that have been discovered, one of them possess almost the same mass as that of earth. If the other two planets are confirmed then this would the highest tally of alien worlds spotted in the solar system.
The discovery was made using the giant ESO telescope placed on a mountain in Chile. The discovery is also said to be a breakthrough in understanding the complex gravitational interactions between the planets which gives an insight into the long term evolution of the planets. The discovery was reported in France at an exo-planet meeting.
