A girl uses iPod to prevent kidnapping
October 31st, 2010 - 3:34 pm ICT by IANSWashington, Oct 31 (IANS) A quick-thinking 12-year-old girl in the US prevented herself from being kidnapped when she held up her iPod Touch - a music player which looks like a phone - and told the would-be kidnapper she was calling the police.
The quick-thinking girl from Stanton in Delaware state was standing on a sidewalk outside her school, waiting for her ride, when the man drove up and said to her, “Get in the van”.
The girl then held her iPod Touch up to her ear and told the suspect she was calling police for help.
While looking exactly like the iPhone, the iPod Touch also offers the facility to be turned into a phone using the device’s Wi-Fi capability. By installing some applications, the iPod Touch is then able to make calls, London’s Daily Mail reported.
Parents in the US are now being asked to consider the iPod Touch when thinking of buying a music player, because of its added advantage as a phone.
