aldrin_apollo_11_arsExactly 40 years ago on the day of July 20 in the year 1969, man had first made a successful journey to the moon and had been able to place his feet on the surface of the crevasses filled moon. Even after so many years have gone by, it is still regarded as one of the most celebrated achievements ever by that of the mankind. So, on its 40th anniversary, it was time again for America and the rest of the world to remember the men who had made it possible for the future generations to dream to reach the moon.

It was an extraordinary occasion, almost surreal, the day that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had first made their way to reach the moon. The world had waited, suspended in awestruck anticipation, for the news of the successful landing to be relayed to the earth. It was the first major contact for the Earthlings with any astral body so closely, excitement was bound to be generated. The epic journey of the two men in the Apollo 11 still has not lost its favor with people worldwide and the names keep getting repeated over and over to this date.

On the eve of the anniversary of such a momentous occasion however, the wide body of astronauts based in America have found enough and more reasons to be disappointed about the present state in which the country’s interest in the field of space explorations is headed. It seems that NASA has no plans of sending any further missions to the moon before the dawn of 2020, which is going to make it almost 48 years that any man would have traveled to the moon.
