Islamabad, March 3 (IANS) Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore and ordered an immediate enquiry.
Zardari asked the authorities concerned to immediately investigate the incident so that the perpetrators are identified and their motives exposed.

“He directed that best possible medical treatment be provided to the injured,” Geo TV reported.

Terming it a terrorist attack, Gilani said its objective was to bring a bad name to Pakistan.

“He directed the provincial authorities to immediately beef up the security and submit (to) him a report,” Geo TV said.

He also directed the “best possible medical treatment” for the injured Sri Lankan cricketers and the others injured in the attack.

Speaking to the channel, Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman said security forces had taken control of the area where the attack had occurred and there was no need to panic.
