Yeddyurappa welcomes rail budget

Bangalore, Feb 25 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Friday praised Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for sanctioning 11 new trains for the state in the rail budget.Yeddyurappa welcomed the proposal to set up a rail coach factory in Kolar, 70 km from here, and a training centre in Dharwad, about 400 km from Bangalore.
Yeddyurappa told reporters that he would meet MPs from Karnataka soon and if need be take a delegation to Banerjee to urge her to speed up implementation of these proposals.
Banerjee announced the proposals in the railway budget presented to parliament Friday.
He said the rail network density in the state was poor as it was only 16 km for every 1,000 sq km.
Yeddyurappa promised that the state would meet its share of cost of implementing the projects to ensure spread of rail network in the state.
