Women outshine men voters in Puducherry district
May 13th, 2009 - 3:47 pm ICT by IANSPuducherry, May 13 (IANS) Woman voters in a Puducherry district enthusiastically participated in the Lok Sabha elections outshining their male counterparts Wednesday.
Till 11 a.m. 43.86 percent of woman voters in Yanam district exercised their franchise as against 42.26 percent of men voters, an election official said.
Women voters outnumber men in Puducherry constituency. Out of the 762,028 voters, 395,240 are women and 366,788 are men.
The union territory constituency logged 34 percent polling till 11 a.m. - men 36.18 percentage and women 31.26 percent, joint chief electoral officer P.T. Rudra Goud told IANS.
Puducherry constituency comprises of Puducherry, Mahe, Yanam and Karaikal.
