Moscow, Nov 17 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A 77-year-old Russian woman has gifted knitted socks and mittens ahead of winter to President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

At a meeting with Russian war veterans and retired people, Rimma Kostina from the northern town of Naryan-Mar presented the homemade socks and mittens to the ruling duo.

“Winter is approaching. Let me give you a present on behalf of all the babushkas (old women),” she said.

Kostina, who has a large family of five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, said she believed her grandchildren would live happily in a free, rich and powerful Russia.
