rncLos Angeles, Apr 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chairman Michael Steele may most likely step down from his position at RNC following the much publicized “Bondage-Gate scandal”. The RNC had to do away with almost $2000 for a nightclub following which there has been an atmosphere of frustration within the party. Consultant Erik Brown allegedly dispensed with the funds for the nightclub which engaged in lesbian acts (woman on woman). The RNC has called for an investigation but party members themselves want Michael Steele to step down.

Mark DeMoss, one of the donors in RNC during George W. Bush’s rule as president who also heads a Christian public-relations firm in Atlanta, said that spending so much in periods of recession is not justified.

Michael Steele had created history when he became the first African American to be nominated as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee. In 2006, he had unsuccessfully run for a seat in the US Senate. Since January 2009, Michael Steele has been successfully acting as Chairman of the RNC.

It is over the past week that Michael Steele has been heavily criticized for his lavish spendings over the Allison Meyers scandal. It has been recorded as one of the biggest public relations nightmares in the history of the RNC. The ‘Daily Caller’ issued a report on March 29 where the extravagant spending was brought to light. This includes more than $17500 for private aircraft and more than $12600 for limousines in the month of February alone. On account of these reports, some donors of the RNC want the Chairman to resign from his post. However, it still has to be seen whether the reports are overblown or they are serious enough to demand Michael Steele’s resignation.
