Ranchi, May 24 (IANS) Hemant Soren, son of Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, Monday wondered why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) withdrew support to the state government after pledging it in writing.
“I am unable to understand why the BJP withdrew support from the Shibu Soren government. We were given time till May 25 to tender the resignation of Shibu Soren,” Hemant Soren told reporters Monday night.
“The JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) does not fear to face elections. We will disclose our move to save the government after two days,” he added.
Hemant was talking to reporters after the JMM legislature party meeting, which authorised Shibu Soren to take decision about the future course of action on government formation.
Reacting to Hemant Soren’s statement, state BJP president Raghubar Das told IANS: “The statement by Shibu Soren that he would not quit from the chief minister’s post prompted us to withdraw support.”
On Monday, the BJP withdrew support to the five-month-old Shibu Soren-led government, reducing it to a minority and plunging the state into political uncertainty again.
The Soren government has been asked by Governor M.O.H. Farook to prove majority by May 31.
