Lucknow, May 12 (IANS) Terming Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s sit-in to support farmers as a “drama”, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar Thursday said if the Congress scion was really serious then “he would have got the Bahujan Samaj Party government dismissed”.
“His (Gandhi’s) visit to Bhatta Parsual village and the sit-in to support farmers was nothing more than a drama. If Rahul is concerned about farmers and wants they are not deprived of their rights, he would have made efforts to dismiss the state government for its anti-farmer policies,” Katiyar told reporters here.
“Rahul Gandhi is one of the top most leaders of the Congress central leadership. Taking an initiative to dismiss the state government is not a big issue for a leader like him,” he added.
Gandhi was arrested late Wednesday in Bhatta Parsaul village in Greater Noida to support farmers demanding more money for their land being acquired for a highway project. He was released after being held for about three hours and later returned to New Delhi.
