West Bengal records voter turnout at over 80 percent

Kolkata, May 1 (IANS) West Bengal saw a large voter turnout of 80.71 percent in its first phase of Lok Sabha elections covering 14 of the 42 seats in the state.
“The total voter percentage was 80.71,” the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Debasish Sen told reporters Friday.

Ghatal recorded the highest figure of 86.37 per cent, while Purulia saw the lowest polling of 71.77 percent, he said.
