Kolkata, Feb 24 (IANS) The West Bengal committee of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday approved its candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections, the party’s senior leader Shyamal Chakraborty said here.
“We’ve primarily finalised the list of our candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. For all of us present in the meeting, it just took one minute to arrive at a unanimous decision and approve the list of candidates,” Chakraborty told reporters after attending the CPI-M’s state committee meeting.

He said that CPI-M leaders also discussed election strategy in the meeting.

“The list of CPI-M candidates would be finalised in a Left Front (LF) meeting March 3,” he added.

According to party sources, the CPI-M would place the list of its Lok Sabha candidates before the LF and if it is passed, the party would go ahead with that.

Earlier, the CPI-M state secretariat had approved the list of its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections and it was ratified by the state committee Tuesday.
