We will sail through: PranabJuly 18th, 2008 - 6:19 pm ICT by IANS
Chandigarh, July 18 (IANS) The government will “sail through” the trust vote on July 22, a confident External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here Friday as tensions grew over the numbers game and whether the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would survive the confidence motion. “Have patience, we will sail through. We have the numbers,” Mukherjee said while making a quick exit after addressing medical students at the convocation of the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here.
Mukherjee, who has been at the centre of most moves that the Congress-led UPA government is making to survive Tuesday’s trust vote, took time out of hectic political manoeuvring in Delhi to give degrees to medical graduates here.
The trust vote was necessitated after the Left parties withdrew support from the UPA government over differences on the India-US civil nuclear deal.
