We will not support PM: Akali Dal MPJuly 21st, 2008 - 11:49 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh despite being a Sikh and Punjabi has not done anything either for the community or Punjab, Akali Dal MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said in parliament during the debate on the vote of confidence Monday. Dhindsa, chief whip of the Akali Dal, alleged that the prime minister has done nothing both for the Sikh community and for Punjab.
“Tell me one thing that he did for Sikhs or Punjab in the last four years,” Dhindsa dared Congress MPs, leading to protest shouts from the treasury benches.
Dhindsa listed several issues of the Sikh community, like the turban row in France and of farmers in Punjab, where the Manmohan Singh government had failed to intervene.
