We respect people’s verdict: Chiranjeevi
May 16th, 2009 - 10:26 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, May 16 (IANS) After the crushing defeat of his Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), actor-politician Chiranjeevi Saturday said he respects people’s verdict and vowed to rebuild the party after analysing the results.
Chiranjeevi said he did not consider it a defeat. “It was only a first step in the grand fight. We will analyse the results and take corrective steps to strengthen the party,” Chiranjeevi told reporters.
PRP won 18 seats in 294-member state assembly and drew blank in the Lok Sabha polls.
Chiru asked his party workers not to get disheartened. “I appeal to them to take it as positive. Think the glass is half full and not half empty,” he said.
The actor said he had the satisfaction of launching a party with the slogan of social justice to give representation to those sections who were not properly represented.
Chiranjeevi was elected to state assembly from Tirupati assembly segment but lost from Palacole in his native West Godavari district.
