Bob McDonnell Virginia, Nov 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Virginia is going to the polls. The following offices will be up for election, which will be decided by the voters, in the United States Commonwealth of Virginia in the November 2009 general election:

Three statewide offices – Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General – for four-year terms

Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the Virginia General Assembly (which has around 100 seats), for two-year terms

Four local constitutional officers each in the larger independent cities – Sheriff, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Treasurer, Commissioner of the Revenue – for four-year terms.

For the Governor’s office, in the Accomack County, the republican candidate is Robert F. ”Bob” McDonnell, and the Democratic candidate is R. Creigh Deeds.

For the Attorney General, in the Accomack County, the republican candidate is Ken T. Cuccinelli II whereas the Democratic candidate is Stephen C. Shannon.

The application deadline for primary election in-person absentee ballot was on 6th June.

The Primary elections; deadline for parties to select candidates by non-primary methods and the filing deadline for independent candidates was on 9th June.

The voter registration deadline for general election was on 5th October.
