Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Governor of Virginia, Bob McDonnell delivered the response of the Republicans to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address which took place on Wednesday. One of the major highlights of the newly inaugurated Virginia Governor’s speech was his criticism of the Obama government’s stimulus plan owing to its failure to do anything concrete to counter unemployment. At the same time, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell also emphasized that the initiatives taken by the United States President has showcased little results to revive the economic conditions.
While delivering the GOP response to the President Obama’s State of the Union address, Virginia Governor stated that although federal spending were expected to enhance the job opportunities and keep the unemployment rate within 8 per cent, the national rate of unemployment remains at 10 per cent. It was also revealed that as many as 3 million Americans became unemployed in the past year. Moreover, the Virginia Governor also added that the Obama administration was attempting to do too much at one go.
At the same time, while talking about health care, the Virginia Governor implied that Americans surely want a much more affordable as well as high quality health care system but they do not want the federal government to run it. However, President Obama’s initiatives to expand the number of charter schools as well as the decision to deploy 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan won accolades from the Republican. The GOP response to the President’s State of the Union address was delivered this time from the Virginia’s House of Delegates rather than the speaker delivering the speech alone in front of the camera.
