New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, being treated for chest infection at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, is showing signs of improvement but continues to remain on a ventilator, doctors attending to him said Tuesday.
“Vajpayee is still in ICU on a ventilator. His chest infection is better and requirement for artificial ventilation has decreased,” said AIIMS medical superintendent D.K. Sharma.
The 84-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was admitted to hospital after he complained of difficulty in breathing and fever Feb 3. He was put on mechanical ventilation Friday.
“His vital parameters like heart, kidney and lungs are normal and he is likely to stay in the hospital for some more days,” Sharma added.
